Overnet need to connect to
network another peer, an overnet user -as you are. When you download Overnet,
a file named "contacts.dat" with 200 contacts inside is provided.
Hopefully, among those 200 contacts, at least one should be connected.
But if you have not run Overnet for some time, these contacts become "old
contacts" (don't forget that many IP adresses are dynamic and change
every 24 hours). The file can also be corrupted of lost. So the problem is:
Overnet cannot connect to the network.
There is in Overnet a "command mode" to allow the user to enter some
commands and there is a command to "boot" on a known node. You have
to know its IP adress and Port to connect. So the command is "Boot (adresse IP)
(port)" and sometimes it works.
But now, to connect to Overnet, the simpliest solution is a software called OverBot
OverBot have access to a fresh nodes users database here
There is about 20 users adresses very fresh (the oldest is less than 1
hour) in the database and OverBot run the "Boot" command in
the Overnet console if you are not connected since 2 minutes... it will test
each database adress until connection !
The database content is -of course- provided automatically by all our OverBot
connected users...
